Is Levoit actually a good brand?

Levoit purifiers come from Vesync (a Nasdaq-listed parent that also owns Cosori and Etekcity). Independent tests place the Core 300 and Core 400S among the best price-per-CADR HEPA purifiers sold in the US. They are AHAM-verified, use H13 True HEPA, and have multi-year service histories on Amazon.

What does CADR mean and which Levoit has the highest?

CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) measures how many cubic feet of filtered air a purifier produces per minute (CFM). Higher CADR cleans rooms faster. Among Levoits, the Core 600S leads at 410 CFM, followed by the Core 400S (260), Vital 200S (207), Core 300/300S (140), Core 200S (90) and LV-H132 (50).

How often do Levoit filters need to be replaced?

Levoit recommends 6 to 12 months depending on the model: Core 200S/300/300S/LV-H132 use 6-month filters, Core 400S a 9-month filter, and Core 600S and Vital 200S a 12-month filter. Pet-heavy or smoky environments can cut that in half. The VeSync app tracks runtime hours on smart models.

Is True HEPA the same as H13?

Not quite. True HEPA means the filter captures at least 99.97% of 0.3-micron particles, which corresponds to H13 in the European EN 1822 scale. Every current Levoit Core and Vital model uses an H13 filter. The older LV-H132 is True HEPA but not labelled H13 specifically.

Do Levoit purifiers help with COVID-19 or wildfire smoke?

True HEPA filters capture the size range of respiratory droplets and most wildfire smoke particles (PM2.5). They cannot remove gas-phase VOCs without a sufficient carbon stage; the Core 400S, 600S and Vital 200S have the largest carbon beds. The EPA recommends a portable HEPA purifier sized to deliver 4 ACH for smoke events.

Do I need a smart Levoit, or is the non-smart Core 300 enough?

If you only run the purifier in one room and prefer a manual interface, the non-smart Core 300 saves you about $30. The Core 300S adds WiFi, voice control and scheduling but does not include a PM2.5 sensor. Auto mode (which adjusts fan speed based on real-time air quality) only ships on the Core 400S, Core 600S and Vital 200S.
